Language Modules

Hook up! will research and create a database of existing online resources for learning the 12 languages of EUF-CE. These languages are:
Finnish         French              German     Italian     Latvian     Lithuanian        
Polish           Portuguese   Russian    Serbian   Spanish    Turkish

The partners will be split into twelve language modules. As module leader of their own language module, the partner will lead and coordinate the work of the group. As language contributor, pulling resources from the foreign language faculties of the univerity,  the partner will contribute to adapt the module to learners speaking a specific language and contribute in the development of the various levels of language acquisition. Their work will result in the creation of language modules at A1, A2, B1 and B2 levels.  According to the languages spoken by the learner, tthe interests, the subject area of the exchange and the starting and finishing levels, the project will try to establish pathways for language acquisition and maintenance.

Each module will point to a series of online learning activities the student can engage into: level testing, vocabulary, spelling, grammar, listening, speaking, comprehension, writing, etc. These will be supplemented with collective and individual classes and face to face learning activities both traditional and innovative (e.g. classroom, individual tutoring, tandem, online tutoring, polyglot cafes, etc.). The real challenge for this project will be the articulation or hooking up together of the various items and profiles to make language learning a qualittively significant experience for the student resulting in a  rapid acquisition of survival conversational skills prior to the arrival at the host university; the integration of language learning as an ongoing fun and productive activity during and after the stay abroad. To enhance the experience Web 2.0 tools will be used to empower the learning experience (it is expected that a series of "webquests" will be produced enriching the acquisition of cultural content at different levels of language knowledge).
